Celebrate the season with handcrafted bread and meaningful moments

Easter brunch is one of those rare traditions that balances joy, comfort, and creativity all on one table. Whether you’re planning a big family feast, a relaxed garden gathering, or a cozy brunch-for-two, the food you serve sets the tone.

And when it comes to meaningful meals, fresh, handmade bread has a way of bringing everyone together.

At A Bread Affair, we’re proud to be part of Vancouver’s holiday tables, especially during the spring season.

Our bakery on Granville Island hums with energy during Easter week, bakers shaping loaves at dawn, the scent of spice and citrus in the air, and customers stopping by for their favourite holiday treats.

This guide is your inspiration for hosting an unforgettable Easter brunch, featuring our most-loved breads, sweet seasonal offerings, and thoughtful pairings that make every bite worth remembering.

Start with the Staples: Breads That Belong on Every Easter Table

Easter brunch is nothing without bread, and not just one kind. Think variety: something savoury, something crusty, something sweet. Here are our top picks and how to serve them:

1. True Love – The Heart of the Table

Crafted from heirloom Marquis wheat and baked fresh at our Granville Island bakery, our True Love sourdough is a natural centrepiece. With a deep, nutty flavour and a perfect crust, it’s made for tearing, toasting, or layering with your favourite toppings.

Brunch Ideas:

  • Toasted and topped with poached eggs, hollandaise, and asparagus
  • Sliced thin and served with whipped goat cheese and lemon zest
  • Cubed and used in a sourdough strata with spring vegetables and cheese

Pro tip: Let your guests slice it fresh at the table. The crackle of the crust and the smell of fresh sourdough sets the scene instantly.

2. Organic Baguettes – Light, Crisp, and Made to Share

Our baguettes are airy, golden, and made the old-fashioned way, with nothing but organic flour, water, sea salt, and time. Slice them for a DIY crostini bar, serve alongside eggs and greens, or tuck into baskets for sharing.

Pair with:

  • Smoked salmon and dill cream cheese
  • Hard cheeses and pickled onions
  • Jam, honey, and whipped butter

Entertaining idea: Set up a “Baguette Bar” with toppings and let guests build their own creations.

3. Three’s Company (Roasted Garlic & Cheese) – For the Flavour-Seekers

Three’s Company (Roasted Garlic & Cheese)

We roast whole cloves of garlic slowly, so the garlic is nice and sweet; mix the whole cloves into our sourdough and then, just before it goes in the oven, we stuff it with Gouda, Cheddar and Monterey Jack. As it rises in the oven, the cheese spills all over the top. This has been known to disappear before dinner is served. Fair warning.

How to serve it:

  • Warm and sliced alongside frittata or baked eggs
  • Cubed and turned into cheesy croutons for a spring salad
  • Grilled for brunch paninis with ham, grainy mustard, and arugula

4. Glorious Hot Cross Buns – A Must-Have Easter Tradition

Nothing says Easter like a freshly baked Hot Cross Bun, and ours are worth the wait. Made with a semi-sweet, spiced dough, studded with raisins and candied fruit, and finished with a delicate orange glaze, they’re soft, fragrant, and unforgettable.

These are only available for a limited time, so be sure to grab a few (or a dozen) while you can.

How to serve them:

  • Slightly warmed, with salted butter
  • Halved and toasted, paired with Earl Grey tea
  • Tucked into brunch baskets as favours or take-home treats

5. Sweet Loaves & Brioche – For a Touch of Luxury

Our brioche-style loaves and sweet breads (seasonally available) are perfect for adding richness to your brunch table. With their soft, buttery crumb, they elevate simple recipes and make even everyday meals feel special.

Ideas:

  • Brioche French toast with vanilla custard and fresh berries
  • Sweet bread pudding with spring rhubarb
  • Served with fruit compote and whipped cream

Build a Bakery-Inspired Brunch Board

If you love the idea of a grazing-style brunch, build a beautiful board that blends savoury and sweet:

✔ True Love sourdough slices
✔ Baguette crostini
✔ Cheese Bread chunks
✔ Hot Cross Buns halved and warmed
✔ Brie, cheddar, and goat cheese
✔ Sliced ham or smoked salmon
✔ Fresh berries, citrus slices, and radishes
✔ Jams, honey, and whipped butter
✔ Soft-boiled eggs and pickled onions

Arrange everything on a large wooden board or cutting surface and let your guests graze and gather.

Build-Your-Own Easter Brunch Kit

If you’re hosting, or gifting, consider a custom Easter Brunch Kit from A Bread Affair:

  • 1 loaf of True Love organic bread
  • 1 organic Baguette
  • 1 pack of Glorious Hot Cross Buns
  • 1 Three’s Company Cheese Bread
  • Local jam or marmalade
